Hey TINTers,
Sorry I can't attend the meeting tomorrow. Here is something that I want to share with you. I've recently created MS Word documents that fit into clear slimline DVD cases. They have been quite handy. Here are photos of the cases and JPG conversion of the documents for the Spell It Deluxe version. Just click on the images if you would like to see them larger. Let me know if you would like the original MS Word templates. I've also got 1st draft versions of them for Ultimate Phonics and a Jazz for Kids CD.

TINT

All about us – just in case you are interested.

TINT is an acronym of Thoughtfully Integrating Neat Technology (sometimes we go all out and add the tag line “The Warm Glow of Technology”).

TINT is a community of computer lab coordinators from San Francisco Bay Area library-based adult literacy programs (BALit). We have met on a quarterly basis since September 20, 2002 to support each other, share resources, and devise ever better ways to make technology accessible, relevant, and engaging for adult literacy learners.

TINT membership is geared to those responsible for facilitating computer use and integrating modern technology at public library-based adult literacy programs throughout the 9 counties of the San Francisco Bay Area (BALit).

TINT welcomes a limited number of members and / or visitors from programs outside of the Bay Area.

TINT is comprised of library-based adult literacy programs but we support a wide range of other organizations through a multitude of individual community collaborations by our individual member programs, by presenting workshops at conferences, and by sharing educational materials through the Internet.

TINT is based on mutual aid, respect, and trust. Our members support and depend on each other as a group and individually. We help each other find solutions, improve skills, increase knowledge, and gain additional perspective.

We work collaboratively and share leadership amongst active members.

Active members are those who attend meetings, respond to e-mails, and in general share information and resources with other programs.

Our primary method of communication is through a shared e-mail list which is frequently updated by active members.

TINT has a blog at

www.tintbalit.blogspot.com. It is a tool to find literacy program information, share resources, and promote thoughtful and effective use of technology in adult literacy. It is intended for postings by TINT members and comments from interested and respectful parties. This blog features a sidebar with links to TINT member sites and other useful web locations.

The handouts, curricula, and other materials shared by TINT members at meetings, through e-mail, and on our blog/website are available to others for nonprofit use under the following conditions. We ask that you please give appropriate credit and attribution, if you build upon someone’s work then please provide a copy of the new material to the original author, and agree to share your materials with other educators and non-profit public service providers.

TINT meets quarterly in turn at member sites.

The host sets the agenda with input from all members.

Members agree to assist the host.

The host is responsible for sending an announcement about the upcoming meeting to active TINT members.

The host is responsible for sending an announcement / invite to the BALit listserv.

The host will forward this invite to all active TINT members.

After the meeting the host will send out minutes to all active TINT members for timely feedback. Host will then give the final version to all active TINT members.

Host will send a brief recap of our meeting and announcement of the next date and location to BALit.

The next host takes over from there.

Additional Note:
CLLS (California Library Literacy Services) has indicated a desire to promote effective use of technology in member programs throughout the state. They have said many nice things about TINT and are looking for ways to share this model of collaboration and support.
